    Monday Challenge Nov. 9 09

    November 12th, 2009

Challenge for writers, by Bonet Graphic Designs

The holidays are here! Yay! Choose a holiday (either from November or December) and write a 500-1,500 word story. The theme must be “friendship”, but it can be any genre appropriate for this blog.

Keep it PG please! PG-13 is okay too.

Challenge for graphic designers, by Prisca

It’s high-stress, huge-workload time for all of us in education–and it will only get worse as the semester comes to a close. With that in mind, design an image that reflects this hectic time for any student and/or educator at any level. What I want you to convey is the feeling of stress due to the school workload. However, the image must also include a message, (either visual or written), of hope for a stress-free tomorrow (or at least a not so hectic weekend!).

Keep it PG please! PG-13 is okay too.

    Have fun!

    Graphic Design Challenge by Prisca:

I decided to make a design based on the “cold fire” oxymoron by Shakespeare. I couldn’t decide what background looked the best, so I made four images with different backgrounds.

    October 26th, 2009

    Challenge for writers:

This time, you get to choose the story genre! Simply start your 500-1,500 word story with one of the following story starters:

    1. Her name was Lily, but the villagers only knew her as The Captain…

    2. The tile slipped and landed with a crash…

    3. It was karaoke night…

Keep it PG please! PG-13 is okay too.

An oxymoron is when two contradictory terms are combined to create meaning. Shakespeare used them quite frequently: “heavy lightness”, “sweet sorrow”, “bright smoke”, “cold fire”, etc. You can choose one of these oxymorons or create one of your own and design an image that represents that oxymoron and is obvious to anyone who stops to look and think about it. (I’m thinking like the popular image of a screw and a baseball…something like that but with oxymorons).

Without further delay, here is the Monday Challenge Result!

    Graphic Design Challenge:

The challenge said: “a a poster that represents what Halloween means to you”. Well, I never went trick-or-treating when I was a kid, so I can’t relate to that image of Halloween as a day you dress up and go collect candy around your neighborhood. To me, this holiday is all about pumpkins: pumpkin decorations, pumpkin songs, and of course, Pumpkin Pie!

In keeping with the spirit of the month, you’re writing another Halloween story. This time, I want you to write a 500-1,000 words combining two of my favorite things: the Toy Story movies and Halloween. Feel free to use the characters from the movie or introduce new toys of your own.

Keep it PG please! PG-13 is okay too.

Another Halloween challenge! (What can I say, it’s one of my favorite times of the year) Create an image for a poster that represents what Halloween means to you. The only words allowed on the poster are: Happy Halloween!

    Monday Challenge Sept. 21 09

    September 21st, 2009

Monday Challenge is back! Where did it go? Good question. I blame it on the new school year that began a few weeks ago. I’m currently buried under a lot of graphic design projects for school and work for clients. Anyhoo.

Halloween is coming! One of my favorite holidays of the year. I’m going to deck my apartment in mucho Halloween decorations and I’ll be pumpkin carving, maybe even pick me own (Lots of fun).

Challenge for writers, by Bonet Graphic Designs

In honor of Halloween, write a 500-1,000 word Halloween themed story for children/young adults (anywhere from 8-18). Vampires, zombies, werewolves, fairies–anything you can imagine!

Keep it PG please! PG-13 is okay too.

    Halloween is in the air…

…And in every store I walk into! September is not over yet and they’ve been selling the merchandise for weeks. I love it! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year and I can’t wait to see all the gals and ghouls dressed in their favorite costumes.

That said, I want you to create a Halloween-themed design that can go on a T-shirt (a black T-shirt, of course!). The design you create has to represent some aspect of Halloween. Remember these are kid-friendly sites, so your designs cannot be rated above PG-13!

    Monday Challenge Ag. 31. 09

    August 31st, 2009

    Challenge for writers

This week you will write two mini-stories, (100-500 words), with the same sentence starter, but one is an exclamation and the other a statement. They set two very different moods. Let’s see where they take you!

    Sentence starters:

    1. I have such a headache!

    2. I have such a headache.

Challenge for graphic designers by Prisca

Create a logo for a martial arts school. It cannot have any realistic figures, only cartoon-like figures will do. The aim of the company is to attract as many local children as possible. The name of the school is: “Awesome Achievements Martial Arts”. Make sure to include the school’s name in the logo. Have fun!
